About SBS Transit

SBS Transit is one of the leading bus operators in Asia, and had incorporated rail operations in 2003. It was formed from the merger of 3 private bus companies, and was listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore in 1978 as Singapore Bus Service (1978) Limited.

It was renamed in 1997 as DelGro Corporation, and recently, as ComfortDelGro Coporation Limited following the merger of taxi and private bus operator Comfort Group. SBS adopted a new coporate livery and name to reflect its multi model status as a rail and bus operator. SBS Transit started operating the Sengkang LRT in early 2003, and North-East Line ( NEL ) in June 2003. It will also operate the new Punggol LRT.

SBS Transit now operates more than 2500 buses that call at 15 interchanges, 18 bus terminals and more than 3000 bus stops. The Sengkang LRT comprises of 6 stations for now, and the NEL has 16 stations. SBS Transit carries 2.4 million passenger trips per day, and relies entirely on fare revenue to fund its operations.
